This page explains what that means, as required by the United States Federal Trade Commission's guides on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).
Which links
Every link to a product on a retailer's site is an affiliate link. When you click one, you are taken to the retailer through an affiliate network, such as CJ Affiliate, which notes the click so that a purchase made afterwards can be credited to this site. Links to our own pages, and links to brand or manufacturer sites for reference, are not affiliate links.
What we earn
If you buy something after clicking through, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had typed the store's address yourself. We are paid by the retailer, never by you.
What it does not change
- What we pick. Every item on this site was chosen by a person for the same reasons: the brand, the size of the markdown against what the item usually sells for, and whether we would buy it ourselves.
- Where it sits. We do not move an item up because it pays more or leave one off because it pays less.
- What we say. Our guides recommend what we would buy. Where we think a category or a brand is a poor value, we say so, affiliate link or not.
We do not accept payment for placement, do not publish sponsored posts, and do not receive free products from the brands or stores we write about.
Who we are not
We are an independent site. We are not owned by, affiliated with or endorsed by any retailer, brand or affiliate network. Store and brand names are their owners' trademarks and are used here only to identify where a product is sold and who made it.
